firstly hi, secondly im interested in buying a 998cc engine from a 1990 car. the only thing i wanted to know is that there seems to be quite a lot of emphasis on a series engines or A +. despite some research im not too clued up on this, and is it likely the 1990 998cc engine im looking at is indeed an a series? (i have always been into my vdubs, hence the lack of knowledge)

There is quite a bit of debate on which is better A or A+, but from what ive read is seems much of a muchness, with most people going on personal experience.

P.S Welcome by the way !!

As a standard engine it makes little difference. 1990 will be A+ assuming it is the original engine.

thanks for the info, reason for asking is that i may buy the engine as a long term project to play with various turbo applications and set ups.
