does anyone know the best braking set up when running 13"s. i was looking at the KAD 6 pot caliper kit and the tarox 6 pot kit. does anyone know which is best or if there are any better ones out there?

What are you trying to stop? road/race/track day?

I've never used anything more than an alloy 4-pot. Never felt lacking when in good condition.

im using the car for hillclimbing/trackdays but its still road legal. the KAD caliper apparently doesnt come with a dust cover or something so it requires regular cleaning. what make is the set up you use?

i know that their A&B typ calipers were un sealed, but the larger ones (non mini fitting) were sealed.

i ditched my kad 6 pots for sealed wilwoods with massive pistons, and 10.25" discs, cost less than the Kads too. the work really well, feels like a modern servo'd car.

there are pics in the links below.

1144 are the best IMHO a savage price but worth the money I only use them now.

IMO a lot to do with MC sizing and calliper choice. SO you get enough fluid without having to provide too much pressure.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

i'm with Vegard (he's normally right), cooper S discs and mini spares carbon metallic pads are spot on! and because i have girly leg muscles i also have a rover cooper servo. and with this set up you also get to use the much better 10" wheels!

if i was a chav and wanted big wheels then i'd probably have gone for standard metro vented discs and calipers

lol, ive got 7.9 vented mety 4 pots with greenstuff pads, thay are much more than up to the job and rarely get up to temperature, which is why im going for non vented 7.9s with alloy calipers next year.
6 pots are surposed to give you better pad stability (even wear) but to be honest i dont think thay do a huge amount more than a good 4 pot.
if your doing hillclimbing then you want the brakes to get up to temperature very fast so i recon a good non vented disk would be your best bet. *happy*

No need for that. KAD's 10,4" big brake kit is powerfull enought.

But if you are looking better visual look....

Also KAD's look awesome..

It has been said before, but just another warning. I've been using greenstuff pads with metty 4 pots and vented discs and lost all braking.. These pads are dangerous, if they get a little "too hot" (I think somewhere over 400 degrees which is not hot...), they just stop working, I'll never use them again.

1144's with 4 pots and vented discs never failed on me once! I use 1144 on a Cooper S 7.5 " and even on a Cooper 997 7" setup as well and they are they best for fast road and rally driving.

What is very dangerous with these big brakes is balljoint failure! You need to almost upgrade to the metro type or treat them as a consumable item.
Any of you who remember the Maguire type Blue Mini driven by Sollis pre 1994 FMITW race - it died a death in ireland due to this!

I used KAD 4 pots on my hillclimb Lotus 7 , with the cheapest / crap pads I could get

for hillclimb you want the breaks to work at optimum from the first press of the pedal

If you need to wait for them to get up to temp you will have crossed the finish line !!

You will need different pads for track days
