He was local to me at one time and I have some of his books.

If you think that is detailed you should see the car he made with a rosewood body, each strip riveted on with copper rivets (about 800 altogether) and then polished so that the heads of the rivets all show.
I tend to agree that such incredible skill could be better used, but are we not lucky to have seen it ?.
