Dropped the engine off at the machine shop this morning, new cam bearings, 73.5 rebore, crank ballanced and checked as its already been re ground. Pistons fitted to rods, main strap fitted, and drilled for 11 studs.
Been on tinternet and orderd arp rod bolts, arp 11th stud, core plugs etc.
Gear box finally done complete with x pin diff, new double roller and 2 new baulk rings as with 4 it just jammed up! But ready to go once iv'e hellicoiled the sump plug.
Have an ultra light flywheel and back plate, grey cover and ap racing paddle clutch ready to go.
Really getting there now just need to get cam (ph 2), timing stuff (duplex with offset keys), head (benross), plenum (with jon now), intercooler (?) and mega jolt and a few bits and bobs.
Like a kid on xmas morning i just needed to tell someone :)

Very good matey, just take your time when building it as care and attention to detail at that time can make the difference between a nice engine and a not nice engine.

It's a good feeling. We've just spent the afternoon in Benross' garage building the short engine for the van.

All good stuff, love building engines. As Fenton says, take your time with it. Buy at least 2 rolls of Kitchen Roll.

Plenty of paper towel, some plastigauge to check mains and big ends running clearance, check the crank endfloat, check the ring gaps, plenty of graphogen on the shells, a little EP 2 grease in the oil pump, tap all the threaded holes out, pull the gallery plugs and clean all the galleries out with solvent spray and compressed air if you can, get some pipe cleaners for the crank, loctite on such as the oil pump bolts, etc etc etc.......

Cheers guys, I'm determind to get this right. Workshop is like an opperating theatre, complete with music and heaters so i can spend the winter months in comfort. In fact the shop has replaced the pub these days, even on a friday night! May even post some pics if i can figure how.
Brace yourselves for some dumb questions though lol
