I've got a new KAD Quickshift that I attempted to fit tonight, not as easy as I expected a gearstick swap to be and I'm not happy with it, something isnt right.

When I fitted mine it was really stiff, after a while it loosens up though.

what about the 2 bolts either side, did they screw into the holes from the old pins? |

You need to get the body right down so that the bolts go through the holes, otherwise it will not work correctly. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

Is this shifter the one with the lift collar, to engage reverse? If it is, the siver knurled collar at the base of the shifter generates the pressure on the stick. you can slacken it off a little to ease the stiffness.

Yes its a genuine KAD with lift collar, I did try to turn the silver collar at the base but couldn't shift it, maybe I'm just being a bit weak!

Grease the moving parts inside the quick shift. This will ease it a bit |

Scrap the lot, it'll end up breaking your synchro's. Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

I had a similar problem at first. Thought i was gonna break the selector bobbins cos it was so tight. I freed mine up a bit by turning the silver collar in the vice and as mentioned by minimole they free up after a bit of use. |

A friend rounde the corner from me put a thin spacer in his to reduce the pressure, made it useable atleast.
I seriously doubt it! |

My genuine KAD fitted like a glove. I have fitted a minispares one before on another car and this one caused me some grief. Ended up taking the gear change completly off so I could give the housing a good wire brushing as a load of crud was stopping the new housing sitting properly. |

Day 2 was much more successful. The blue housing was still sitting a good 8mm to high, so i put my thumbs either side and put all my weight on it and pop, it went straight on. I think the ball on the end just needed a little help into place.

i had trouble with it getting stuck between 1+2 / 3+4 i replaced the rubber hangers on the selector box mount and it help alot, then i ended up using a long bolt with washers and nuts on the hanger closest to the drivers side to solid mount (ish) that side witch made 2-3 change alot easier Yes i moved to the darkside |

Yes I did do a post on making the Knock off Quickshift work better but in the end once the dollar/pound weakened I went to the genuine KAD and it works a treat, its simply more precise. I am surprised you are having problems with it.

Ah I get ya, sorry, I was under the impression the stick wasn't moving far enough to get to 3rd/4th rather than moving past them.

This is definitely definitely a new style genuine unit and not a Minisport copy?

'6.2.06 Change in new quickshift All genuine KAD quickshifts sold from March 2006 onwards will now be anodised blue with a distinct machined groove beneath the knurled screw cap.We have made this change so that customers will be able to spot the genuine quickshifts from the copies on sale. The copy quickshifts, anodised purple can be secondarily identified by their poor finish, knotchy operation and silver plated plunger at the base of the stick. The first version of the KAD quickshifts which were anodised purple will always have a black plunger at the base of the stick. The copy will also not be supplied with the distinctive KAD badge or instruction sheet.' I dont see Minisport mentioned, and I am still sure you mean Huddersfield MS. I cannot find any link on Minisport site and it is well known that for the past 3 years Huddersfield have been selling the copy. That is not to say that Minisport have not made them in the past Edited by Sprocket on 29th Oct, 2009. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
