I've managed to pickup a Eberspacher heater for my van, but the heater requires a 24v 10A power supply. My van is only 12v.

Ideally I'd like to avoid running an extra battery just for this heater, so I'm looking to use a step-up transformer.

Obvisouly as I'm a cheapskate, so looking for cheapest option. I'm not scared of getting the soldering iron outas long as they is a diagram for me to follow.

do I have any cheaper options than buying one of these?

No simple solution (well not for moderate/high currents) as it's DC.

Transformers are AC only.

The convertors will use some form of invertor to turn DC to AC and then either a trnsformer/rectifier or, more likely, switched mode - fairly complicated electronics unless mass produced.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

65 quid seems pretty reasonable for the 12 amp one doesn't it?

Dont see why you would need an isolated one.. Unless there is a reason to keep the grounds seperate?? Maybe the regular 12A one will do.. its 20 quid cheaper
