The alternator will depend if it has offset brush's as if it would rotate backwards it would end up damaging the brush's by pushing them back over the centre, this would then snap them, obviousl the alternator would be ruined without a rebuild David. |

Thanks David, the brushes are at 90' to the shaft, i have reversed them so they will wear in the same as before, do you know if there is anything which has to be done electrically to ensure it works properly?

loads of guys on the 16vminiclub run alternators like that (and i probably will too shortly) no issues, the only potential problem is overheating as the fan is spinning the wrong way, so you could look at a honda d or b-series alternator Edited by evolotion on 6th Nov, 2009. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
