Ok thanks for the info, the standard rims have scrubbed a couple of times so i did think it would be a bit of an issue though they do have pretty beefy tires. '89 Austin Metro GTa :) |

Don't forget that the later Metros (88 on?? ) had smaller hubs so that the wheels didn't stick out as far.

The older ones have a longer centre where the bearing and hub nut sits, this pushes the wheel further out of the arch. The drums and I think the bearings are diffent too. We had to swap the hubs when we put the cross wires on the van.

That makes sense Andy as i was looking at it today and i thought the wheels were quite 'set in' as it were, would you say i'd be ok running the 7J's on et22 with smaller tyres then? '89 Austin Metro GTa :) |

We had to put 185/50 13" tyres on in the end as the rear tyres where catching on the rear of the arch, even more so with the body kit fitted. The van is bent though...

Andy you numpty, the extra lug sticking out of the centre is only there to take shear stresses off the origional studs, the geo is the same as all mini /early metro |

I'll take your word for that Carl. The other reason for changing them was because the early 'lug' bit poked out of where the wheel centre should have been.
