Hi,

i am buiding mine engine but can't get the oil return right*oh well*

The oil return off the turbo and the plate mounted where the fuelpump normally sits are so close together that i can not fit a 90 degree hose. Now i have a couple off questions.

What is the minimum diameter that i must use as a oil return.
The oil return of the turbo is +/- 18mm but the gasket only has a 8mm hole*happy*

I can get a decent return but than i must make a U shape with the hose. The only thing wrong with that is then the oil will not run free back into the engine. There will be some kind off oilresevoir in the hose. But i don't know if that will be a problem.

Gegroet:)

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

I would say you will be ok as long as there is still an air gap above the "oil reservoir".

diameter wise anything over 10mm will be fine.

can you get some shallow/ button head screws for the drain pipe to turbo joint, and trim the turbo outlet down a bit?

the way i've done my last 2 has been to have a small stub on the plate on the block and a straight hose joiner on this. then i've welded up a drain pipe from the turbo that fits into the joiner.

only real i've got of my oil drain that i can find atm.

Any suggestions on with 90 degree hose to use. Or let me tell it like this: is there an brand/model from with we can use the hose to make the return? From Samco they cost a fortune.

Oil and rubber don't always mix :)

I don't think the engine will be in for 6 years*happy* ......

Yeah, mine is actually a cheaper sfs hose. Anything silicone hose-wise would be the same id imagine

Yes its a pain, but you can fab a tight 90 bend and it works OK.

Best solution I've seen is to tig a return into the gearbox housing which is what I'll be doing next rebuild!
