go to a scrap yard and get the edis set up from a ford. Then check the bay - the mj unit sometimes pops up.

the 123 will work ok, biut the megajolt will be better, the reason being the megajolt is a mappable system, meaning you can get the advance right rather than just close.

you can.

But its not as good as mappable ignition, do a search on the megajolt set up, nic did a good write up.

Your distributor controls when you get a spark. One of the major causes of detonation is getting your spark at the wrong time. Then your new pistons will look like your old pistons - fooked!

ok, ignition crash course... lol

an engine likes different ignition advance deepending on load & rpm,

for example around 20 degrees at idle, 35-50 at cruise, 30 at full throttle at higher rpm, and many permutations in between, which may be totaly different depending on the engine spec,

also add to this that you will be forcing air into the engine, the more boost you run the lower the ignition timing will need to be to prevent det.

A dizzy copes with this by having spring loaded weights that swing out as the rpm rises and advances the ignition. for cruise there is a vacum can on the side, the engine sucks on this and advances the ignition. to mod normall dissy you have to play around with the weights and springs to get an advance curve that works with your engine.

the 123 dizzy does away with this clockwork gubbins and has 16 preprogrammed curves that should provide you with something that will work with most engine specs.

the megajolt has a 3 dimensional map based on rpm and the pressure going into the engine, you have "bins" for rpm and pressure that you can change, so you can have whatever advance is needed.

123 curves, note they go up with rpm.

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...sa%3DG%26um%3D1

3d ignition map

what you are seeing is essentially 8 ignition curves in the 3d map, a different one for each pressure level, kind of like having 8 distibutors all changing over as each one comes to its optimum pressure range.

this is the screen where you would change the advance settings in megajolt, all you do is overtype them and click send.

I will say though, it may be a good idea to get the engine working on the 123 though, as they are VERY easy to get an engine running on, I have one and will keep it as its just a case of sliding it in and connecting 2 wires.

It'd be pointless to use the 123 surely, unless one of it's fixed maps is for a turbo. Is there a turbo map in it?

If not then it'l have to be so retarded to limit the maximum advance you'd be better with a fixed dizzy.

On th grape vine I understand that there is a fully mappable dizzy beig developed.

EDIT: your best option may be looking for a turbo dizzy of a metro

Not difficult to convert.

There is a step by step explanation on the net under "Turbo Midget "
