Pretty sure my wrench will be miles out. Can anybody recommend somewhere to get it calibrated?

A comparrison test with a 'known good' wrench might be your best bet.

There's plenty of local TM members who could help you I'm sure.

Never been very good at Maths....

I accidently left mine wound up to 150 lb/ft for a couple of weeks, so it will be miles out...

Had a response to my mail already. £19 +vat to calibrate it, plus the cost of any parts required.

I'll give them a try and report back.

About what the wrench cost. I think I'd rather just fix this one than buy another. At least I know it's right then...

They are UKAS accredited, so the calibration I'd imagine comes with a traceable certificate back to a standard.

Apart from having driven past it a few thousand times, yes I've used them at work for torque tools to do up M36 bolts to 2500Nm.

WTF were you doing up to 2500 Nm Tom?! *surprised*
Were you trying to stop the earth spinning or something? The rail freight stuff I've com across doen't get much higher than 800 Nm, and that's fairly big kit.

Main retaining bolt on a crane lift cylinder. I work at a steelworks, you haven't seen big until you have been here.

AWESOME!! HOW BIG IS THAT WRENCH!!!

And if they are dealing with numbers that big then i would imagine thier calibration would be pretty accurate! Afterall, 2-3% of 2500NM is a fair wack!!!

It is a hydraulic driven torquing tool. I doubt you would get to 2500Nm with a torque wrench.....

Ah yes - Steel mills of course. I used to work at the Corus sites in South Wales, that kit's in another league I suppose!

I used to have a great pic of my Mini next to a blast furnace, which I can't find any more. Unfortunately the blast furnace blew up.
