And now for something completely different...
My new project is an 998 Mayfair (again another build that someone gave up on) for which i've gotten a T2 from a Renault 5 to put on it.

very little welding was needed, battery box and the front valence where the previous owner decided to take a piece out of it for some unknown reason.

Looks neat (again).

Bulkhead box...... it's not as wide as mine, ie, doesn't go so far over on the passenger side.

Is it specifically smaller for a T2 actuator rather than a T3 ???

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

oh *indifferent* ... um i just took dimensions from someone on here. I hope it fits, the actuator is a lot smaller so fingers crossed. Otherwise that'll be fun to sort out *oh well* is yours a tight fit with the T3 then?

This is mine, sorry about the photo, I'm in the middle of welding the passenger side sill so shell is half on its side....



This is one of Jason's (Jason G on here) and, apart from the fact it's deeper, it goes right up to the bulkead/wing plate on the passenger side.

I've only had the engine in and out a few times to get the exhaust downpipe and system fabricated right but the T3 actuator was still fairly close to the 45 degree bit.

But, like I say, I assume the T2 takes up less room.

Yeah i made mine shallower because the T2 is smaller.
Guess we'll have to wait and see about the angle section.

I have to agree, especially the precision with which the twin fuel pipes (and brake line) have been run. I'm trying to do it that neatly with nylon (fuel) tubes and getting the bends set right is tricky.

It's a pug 306 exhaust manifold. I initially bought a T2 from 306 diesel thinking it would be same as R5, but the mount to the manifold is a triangular 3-stud pattern and would have been a pig to mate up to the metro manifold.

Regarding the fuel lines.... How much of an issue is it that i haven't got larger diameter pipes? I've used original mini size ones, since i had two at hand. Presumably the 998 won't consume as much fuel as a 1275 so starvation is less likely to be an issue?

You need a larger diameter return pipe to get all the excess fuel away from the regulator. You will have trouble getting the preasure set right if it can't return enough of the fuel to the tank.

Ahhhh....

I hadn't realised you had "cheated" and used two standard fuel lines *happy* No wonder the bends are so good *happy*

Opinion varies, do a search. But I agree, it should be less of an issue on a 998.

I'm using 8mm flow and 10mm return but that's because I don't want any issues later and mine's 1360cc and fuel injected (fuel injection is more sensitive to the return line) but I won't know until it runs for real in the car.

i found i needed a larger return than feed with that pump, its an ebay copy of the bosch but seems to shift alot more fuel

Back from uni for Easter so thought I'd get on with spraying.

Had a few nice days and managed to get the interior done and the roof. Hopefully get another sunny day to do the outside of the car.

Whilst waiting for paint to dry, I started to look at how to join the T2 to the metro manifold. Got some stainless to make up a plate, now just need to start making.

A bit more paint on it now, really nice finish, just a few raised dots to sort out. I'm just itching to get it all together and running but going back to uni next week, so there's no chance. Have to wait till summer :(

I've been busy over the summer trying to get it ready for when I go back to uni.

Same one, cut out lights, fibre glassed and then filled. sprayed it green today but unfortunately they aren't quite flush but they'll do.
