Hello again, I am having issues keeping the battery charged up and I suspect it's more of a charging problem than a battery problem. To compound the issue there is a bad connection in the ignition light and it doesn't always work. When it does work it comes on when you turn on the ignition and goes out when the engine starts up and is above about 1500RPM, so all seems fine when it works. Is the ignition light part of the charging curcuit? I mean could a bad connection there break the charging curcuit and could this be the problem? It's just that it seems fine when the light works!

Obviously I need to have a good hoke around and hopefully that will reveal all but I won't get to until the weekend.

Thanks!:)

yep it could well be the connection to the bulb causing the issue.

the wire connected to the bulb is actually what tells the alt to charge,

I've had the same problem recently . It turned out that a broken fuse holder behind the carb was (partially) responible.

Excellent, that's what I wanted to hear. It makes sense, everything is ok other than the wire to the ignition light. I will fiddle with that when I get time!

Thanks Mr mini13 man!
