Hi All,

Hope you don't mind me posting a few photos of my Marcos project up here. I got it in December last year, it had stood since 1990.

It is being built as a road going Saxo basher, with a NA 1380 *happy*

When I got it

In the garage with the front end damage evident, and then repaired..

The Marcos has a fibreglass front cross-member, with steel inserts where the subframe bolts through, and the top shockers mount.. Mine were in a bad way!

So I made some new ones, and converted from twin bolt to single bolt at the same time.

Bodywork is ongoing, just finished making a roll cage, which is also part of the strengthening going into the rear arches to support the car now it's going onto coil overs.

If you're interested have a look here for a few more photos:

Stoke-on-Trent. Duck.

Looking nice! I think you've done the right thing in stripping it all the way back, my mate did the same but I'm not sure if he's ever got round to finishing it ()

Looking forward to seeing how your build progresses...

How did you repair the damage on the front?
Just by eye or is there panels available?

nice car, good work, is it staying on 10's with a retro paint scheme?

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

New panels are not available. In the 2nd picture you can just see the front end off a yellow MkIII sitting on the floor, it's almost the same as the MkIV, so I did a bit of cut and shut work, and made it fit *happy*

My willing helper!

And yes it's going onto 10" wheels, coilovers all round, 7.5" disks on the front. Not sure about the paint job yet, I've a bit more work to do before I think about that too seriously!

I lurk everywhere! Loads of good knowledge and ideas on here, and a bit more grown up than TMF 8-)

You were looking at a MkVI iirc, is that what you got?

Now thats what I like to see.

Proper job.

I do like the shape, particularly when fitted with a front air dam and wide arches.

How are you finishing yours ? Wide or subtle?

Great skills, as Andy said. Take my hat off to you for working with f'glass.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

I love Marcoses, but IT's really reconsider uisng coil-overs on it... The shells, including yours, are NOT made for that, even if you strengthen it a million times.

+ it's faster with std set up. Have a look at the bottom here:

Believe me, with the work I've done to it, it is strong enough *happy*
