Can't comment on one in a Mini, but my 205 GTi track car has one in it. The car has 170bhp and before in anything other than dry conditions would spin a wheel at the first opportunity. In the wet it was useless.
With the diff fitted the results are quite honestly amazing, even in the wet/damp you can now apply full power when turning a corner in 2nd gear, with no understeer or wheelspin. It takes a bit of adjustment to your driving style to get the best from it, as you have to be more attacking, as the diff only takes effect properly when one of the wheels is struggling to keep traction. The thing that also impressed me is that it does not tug through the steering much at all.
On the road it makes the car a lot more surefooted, and also gives it better stopping ability in the wet, as the diff seems to work in reverse, thus stopping one front wheel locking early under braking.
All in all it gets 10/10 from me.

Got my Quaife LSD today. Will start driving with it in spring. If you can wait so long I will send you a mail about my opinion on it. Will slightly modify it to adopt a 3,1FD.

Harry,

Glad you mentioned that your mod'n it to accept a 3.1:1 cwp, as I'd like to run that ratio too. It appears that a 3.446:1 is the closest that you can buy off the shelf for a LSD, so how are you gonna engineer that.

Cheers,

Choppo

The LSD will be milled down to a diameter of 137mm. (Not turned down because even a very hard tool would not survive the "interrupted cut".)
I will not reduce the diameter more than this because I want to keep the original holes for the "std" crown wheels.
After that new holes will be bored (or better milled) inbetween the existing holes, but a shade more to the center of the LSD. The original crown wheel will be turned out (and tapped) to accept the LSD.
Not an easy job on the tools because all the stuff is hardened, but a good friend of mine has some CNC maschines and said it can (and will) be done.
Will do it in January - can post some pictures if you want.

Crown wheel was milled today - tomorrow the Quaife LSD will be milled! Tough job on the tools, we killed one, another one needs an overhaul. Will try to post some pictures!
