I currently run my mini turbo's fuel system as per the metro turbo. My brother used to have a bi- ass maestro turbo which for those who may not be aware use's the type of SU, although with an electronic choke and nearly the same plenium with an intercooler take off, which I actually use on my mini. Although the carb is nearly the same, the manner in which the fuel lines and boost pressure set up I different to the metro. I think that the maestro set up is better as I think that it would have less lag.

Its difficult for me to explain this fully with out diagrams, but if anyone knows what I'm harping on about, and has tried the maestro set up on a metro or mini turbo, let me know, as I'd be interested to hear what you thought/ think of it.

Over and out.

I take it by the lack of resppnse that I have either baffled you with my question, or nobody has tried it!

Ho-hum, I'll give it a whiz, let you guys know how I get on.

With the maestro set you increase the boost by adjusting the length of the actuator arm, not by a bleed valve, although you could still fit a bleed valve in line.

Good morning choppo, i understand your question. you are talking about the actuator set up, and how the fuel pressure line it 't' pieced off to the acctuator. instead of the metro turbo set up we all are aware off.l i used to own a maestro turbo earlier this year, so have an awareness of the set up.

the way the boost works is very different to the metro set up, firstly the boost dilivery if very fast, almost spontanious then keeps a 'level head' if you like. were as on the metro set up the air to the acctuator is fed direct from the turbo, and blead via a bleed valve, yes this works fine, but by bleeding the air, and having pressure in the acctuator diaphram, the waste gate is forced open at an early stade, causing boost to possibly take more time to build up, and often not maintaining accurate pressure (im sure you all no what i mean)

so i intend to use he maestro turbo acctuator set up, (which you have to remember, most turbo cars use this method.) on my mini, how it works...

well, basicly the oposite to what i have just sdaid above...

it works like this, the acctuator diaphram is fed via the plenium chamber, 't' piecing off the fuel pressure line.... the boost seting, is set/adjuasted via lengthening of shortening the acctuator are, or a stronger springed acctuator

when the turbo is sprawling up, lets say off the line, there is no istant air pressure pushing againt the acctuator diaphram, so the waste gate is momentarily being held shut from the wright of the spring, as a result sprawling up very fast, then almost instantly pressure reaches the plenium// actuator, the more pressure delivered, the more presure acting against the spring in the acctuator diaphram, which causes the waste gate to open
there for maintaining accurate boost levels.

jesus, long windid or what?

hope that helps *wink**happy*
this is a very simple set up (YOU WILL NEED TO PLANK OF THE TWO WAY NIPPLE IN THE COMPRESSOR HOUSING IF USING THIS SET UP ON A METRO TURBO UNIT)

if you feel in control, your not going fast enough!

I have a freshly built Slark Race Engineering 1293 turbo engine. which includes forged pistons, piper t3 cam, 36/32mm offset valves.... lets come out to play!!!

you can do the same on the metro i think, shortening the arm will increase the boost!

sounds all good to me! by the way, when you say the turbo 'sprawling up' does that imply that you have a lazy turbo that chills out, or did you mean spooling up? !!
