Get a multi meter across the alternator body and the negative on the battery, To check the casing is earthed correctly, might just not be erathed very well, I had this after an engine swap and i had painted the brackets. Simple and worth a check. Got A GTM With A Honda In the Back, and huge Nitrous bottle where the passenger seat should be when racing!
