hi, iv just built up a fast road engine for my mpi. am keeping the revs down until the bottom end is run in, i will then will fit a power boost valve and have the fueling set up as best it can be on a rolling road

having not driven any other mini for several years with a final drive of 2.7:1, i decided that the best thing to go for on my new engine setup would be a 3.2, (running 13inch wheels), and a 1275gt close ratio gearbox

i motorway drive a short ish distance several times per week. at it is at the moment, 70 is at 3000rpm - quite a bit higher than i was used to. i know a series like to rev. and im sure im just not used to the lower gearing yet.

as im not revving this engine up yet, ihope i will feel the benifits of the shorter fd on acceleration, as i havent tried it yet.

just hoping i havent done the wrong thing by dropping to a 3.2:1!

has anyone else got experience with changing their final drive, how did they find it after?

Dont hang about and put your foot down! dont labour the engine with low RPM and fourth gear, and dont take the RPM above 3/4 of the Red line of 6800 on the MPi. Free for all inbetween all that

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

cheers sprocket.

have tried not to labour the engine with low revs. until today i limited myself to 3.5k, but hit 4 k a couple of times today.

will give it another week or so until things have settled, will book it into the rolling road then.

is the mpi redline really that high?
