I've read all the threads I could find on the subject and it seems opinions divided on fitting a tensioner to a duplex chain.

We've just built our van's engine with the help of Benross. We fitted the standard A+ tensiornor in the standard place to a standard cast duplex setup. Our chain was well stretched though. Edited by apbellamy on 25th Nov, 2009. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

However Steve's opinion was that if we had a new "good quality" unused chain that we should leave the tensioner out. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

I fitted it in its standard place on a setup with standard duplex (cast) sprockets, it's wide enough to cover the whole width of a duplex chain (just).

As said, i've always used the standard A+ jobbie, removes the slack and keeps it quiteter when it does start to wear. |

Thanks Chaps.... I have fitted a Kent Vernier with chain so may buy a new single tensioner and see what it's like.
