I'm looking for a Janspeed manifold that I believe was made for the Metro CHallenge series in the 80's. It is designed so that it can be used with either a Weber 45 or twin HIF4 SUs.

Anyone have one (or know of one?)

Looks like this (photo kindly provided by a chap in Japan!):

Vizard wrote a few lines about that manifold, yes. Sounded very positive. I quote from 'Tuning the A-Series engine':

"Here is a manifold which to the uninitiated observer, looks like the dreaded swan-necked item. However, it would be a great mistake to confuse this with the highly inefficient swan-necked manifold shown a few pages earlier. This particular item from Janspeed engineering has proven to be a highly effcient intake manifold, designed specificcally for use on the Metro. It is very unusual in that it can mount both a single side draft Weber [...] or a pair of 1 1/2" SUs. It's easy to think of this manifold as a Weber intake manifold only. However, when used in its SU form [...] it is amongst the most efficient SU manifold commerically available for the Series 'A' engine. This, together with the remote mounted filter, produces a very quiet and effective induction system for the Metro and possibly for Minis, if few clearance problems exist".

:) - you can inspect the pistons through the carb(s) with that manifold *happy*

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

That's not entirely true, the JanSpeed manifold has a large integrated balance tube for the operation of SUs :)

Of course you could bang some SUs with adaptor plates on a Weber manifold and run some tubes across the flanges - but that's not quite the same, is it? :)

Cheers,
Jan

Hi Graeme, forgot to mention, that manifold is made for a twin Dellortho, and/or twin SUs, NOT Weber.

Are the flange/stud patterns different for Weber & DelOrtho? I though they were the same...
