£20k, too much.

Why say it holds 4 British land speed records and then not specify them? does anyone know? i reckon they're breakable.

Interesting car, but yes, a bit pricey.
Deserves to be driven, not put in a museum.

After a bit of digging I've found the what the records are the flying mile, half mile, kilometre and 500m for cars up to 1600cc.

Don't know what these mean or what the times are. I guess you hold them by default if no-one bothers trying to reset them

The records were set at Elvington on 29-30 July 1978.

Class F (1100 - 1500cc)

500m FS: 118.16mph
1km FS: 120.33mph
1/4 mile FS: 120.40mph
1 mile FS: 116.76mph

Some of the records in Class G (750 - 1100cc) are also A-Series records.

Saw this car at Prescott earlier in the year, looked fantastic just a shame it didn't go up the hill.

I still don't understand what the records are, as in what are the rules for the test?

I guess it's all NA too.

The rules are quite simple - two runs in opposite directions over the measured distance within an hour. The times of the two runs are averaged and must better the current record by 1% to establish a new record.

British records have historically only been based on capacity with forced induction not being taken into account - many of the existing records were set by blown cars. I'm not aware of this having changed but the MSA website is a bit ambiguous - I'll check and let you know what the current situation is.

I've been involved in quite a few British and International record attempts and I can assure you that its not always as simple as it sounds! It can be very expensive too...

The MSA rules are here:

www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/msa_forms/bluebooks/10/372-%20National%20Records.pdf

And the FIA rules here:

So in all likely hood these 4 records were set in one run, just measuring over different set distances.

I understand that things are never as easy as they sound. But I know stock 1500cc modern cars that have top speeds of over these records. With some aero and engine mods it must be possible.

I'm not actually going to try by the way.
