For the VR, look at the junior timer connector (plug) that goes onto the VR sensor. If it is new it will have "1" and "2" moulded into the plastic part of the pin sleeves. "1" is positive.

TM forum is great - but then so is our youngest son, who spotted how to get the pins out (better eyesight, more nimble fingers) and showed me how they all lock back in again.

Can you share the 'secret' Tadge? I'd quite like to do a 'tidy' install in my car. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

I had puzzled a little over your comment Rod, re locking plate as I thought it was a tool for releasing the pins, not locking them. Well it's normally for locking them, I've not seen one yet designed for releasing them, but I'm still young (4th oldest on the forum:)) Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

I don't want to be seen as a cheeky young wipper snapper, but Polevolt sell terminal removers. I only have their catalogue in PDF format. Item TT99 On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

No secret to tidy installations Andy - just plan it before you start drilling holes and cutting wires.

I had actually meant getting the wires out of the connector, but no I didn't see anything out of place under your bonnet all looked very tidy.

I guess, Tadge, you have the honour of being 1st, so who is second? I reckon Rod has missed of few. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

Getting the right sort of vibe from the operator when he tells me that I am unlikely to achieve 140bhp, realistically, as ,in his opinion, many figures are inflated. In any case I am taking the view, expressed on here before, that the figures are irrelevant except in the bar, all that matters is that it is driveable and fun. show him the rr shootout figures tadge ,i think they are accurate ish .pretty new superflow dyno .good luck with it ,what dyno are you going to ? Dont really want to stsrt a war on this, but I know very little of how HP figures are calculated, other than from the torque detected at the wheels.I have always been amazed at the differences quoted between the HP at the wheels and the flywheel. The lost HP has to re- appear somewhere as energy cannot be destroyed, so it is probably as heat. The differences I have seen quoted impute enough heat to melt alloy !

most of it goes to heat the tyres and so on tadge , if looking for an accurate figure ,just ask to see the calibration certificate for the rr . Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM |

You can buy a proper terminal removal kit, I've got the same one as this, very handy it has been too.

Really looks the biz Tom, but a bit pricey to have for the one occasion only.

.....anyway and my 16stone+ will knock the edge off the performance of any mini..... We have something else in common then, except I weigh myself in kilogrammes. That tool of Tom's is nice but, as you say, for a one-off it's pricey compared to grinding down a screwdriver blade. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |
