hi im building my turbo engine to turbo phils estimated 130hp spec. but im thinking of getting the swiftune camshaft set which comes with the oil pump, vernier duplex timing setup, cam and followers.
but was wondering if anyone new which one was the best to go for ?
i am not to worried about the car being slightly unpractical in terms of town driving at low rpm, but then again i dont want to have no power at all untill 6000rpm

cheers.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

the Swift tune SW5 is a good cam and has loads of lift and a short duration i think based on the 1071 S profile i may stand corrected.

here is a few cam timing figures for you to digest

the sw5 has loads of lift but is a tad short on the the exhaust duration in my book, altough a good tractable cam it will produce the good low down mid range and around the 5500 to 6k mark
ideal for 130 bhpish

the MG Metro cam, as fitted to MK2 metro VDP's, RSP Mini coopers, Metro Gta'a and 1275 Metro Sports.
It Has a 1/4" groove machined into the cam after the number one lobe.
Checking height: 0.017" @ lobe

Timing: (Intake): 16/56 (Exhaust): 59/29

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.263" (Exhaust): 0.263"

Duration (Intake): 252 (Exhaust): 268

Lobe centre angle (Intake): 110 (Exhaust): 105

Lobe separation angle: 107.5

Lift on overlap: 0.054"

NEXT is the Kent 266 a nice all round road cam, these figures are based on kents own specs.

Checking height: 0.016" @ lobe

Timing: (Intake): 24/56 (Exhaust): 61/29

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.263" (Exhaust): 0.268"

Duration (Intake): 260 (Exhaust): 270

Lobe centre angle (Intake): 106 (Exhaust): 106

Lobe separation angle: 106

Lift on overlap: 0.054"

Swift tune SW5 road cam,

Checking height: 0.016" @ lobe

Timing: (Intake): 15/49 (Exhaust): 52/12

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.281" (Exhaust): 0.281"

Duration (Intake): 244 (Exhaust): 244

Lobe centre angle (Intake): 107 (Exhaust): 110

Lobe separation angle: 108.5

Lift on overlap: 0.036"

& last is the Avonbar Phase 2

checking hight inlet 0.012" Ex 0.014

Nominal lobe lift: (Intake): 0.360" (Exhaust): 0.400"

Duration (intake) 264 (Exhaust):280

Full lift at 108 deg recomended on here!

But piper says 110 deg on data sheet

The SW5 is based on the 997 Cooper AFAIK. All Ss had the same cam.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
