I have two minis, a 1963 shell, ready to be finished, and a 1978 mini 850 ready to be restored. I'm looking for input on what other people would do with these. One is going to be a race car, the other is going to be my driver, both are going to eventually be turbo and injected.

Finish 1963 and drop the 850 motor into it with multiple uprgrades.7 Votes 7 Votes - 0%

what could you get finished first? getting one on the road should give you the inspiration to get the other one done

True enough. The '63 is closest to a full resto, body wise, so I could probably get it done first, and cheapest.

Restore the 63 to original and make the 78 the racer.

The 63 is worth too much to be chopped around with and made into a racer. Especially (i would imagine) in America as they cant be all that easy to get hold of!

Shakes head and walks away I cannot believ you would do that to a 1963 mini! I would swap that in a heart beat if I had a spare 1999 SPI project to hand

If you were in the UK, I'd say turn the mk1 into a racer, but as your in america, restore it and mess about with the later shell.
