i got a new Vernier Duplex Timing Gear . and i took two crank shims off to align both gear up . but when i put the chain back, i found a problem. the chain touch the two bolts behind the gear. |

the trick is to countersink the backplate and use countersunk allen (socket) head screws. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:

hi guys, i know this is an old post but im just fitting my dupplex, and has encounterd a problem also. i can get the big sprocket on the cam, its tight but it goes on, last bit i might need to tap it in.

remove the key with a screw driver and get some emery cloth on the crank and give it a good going over.

no emery cloth here, i dont even know where they would sell it here in portugal, would wet and dry say 600 be good enough mate? |

ok mate.. will give 250 a go and then a bit of 400 or 600 to get it smooth..

We just used a small file (attached to Benross' hand) when we put the vans engine together. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Often it is just the corners of the keyway in the sprockets - a small burr gets raised when the keyway is broached - so a small file on those two corners often helps.
