Any help is greatly appreciated - Michael

yes, '93 onwards require one. Unless you have an engine in the car that was manufactured before '93.

If you can prove the age of the engine then you you only need to pass the emmissions specified for that engine.

The cat dos not have to be present to pass an MOT, but try and pass the cat emissions test without one. Its just not going to happen.

However. up to August 1995 if the tester cannot determine which test should be done, it should be tested on a non cat test. Only after August 1995 you're totaly bolloxed. So, its a matter of finding an MOT tester that understands what Minis are about, and he will then not be doing anything he shouldnt *wink* The bottom line is that it is the MOT testers discretion as to which test is carried out dependant on the year. If he just bangs the reg number into the machine and lets it decide, he is not doing his job correctly *wink* which is what happens most of the time.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Good point, but the latter part of my previous comment is usualy what happens and the carb cars get tested on the cat test and it fails nearly all the time
