Dividing head would be my guess but it's been 10 years since I was allowed near a workshop.

would that not be for a toothed belt as opposed to a multi-v? at any rate (and im no machinist) if you have the drawings to work to any tool could be used so long as the result as is desired, though im sure there will be special tooling that will allow each Vto be made in one operation.

if your making the pulley out of alloy could you not just grind your own tool out some suitable steel?

I made one once (years ago for a completely unrelated project) using a standard 60 degree thead cutting tool. I think the angle I needed was greater than 60 so I had to set the tool at an angle to do all the left side cuts then the opposite angle to do all the right side cuts. The lathes at work had highly accurate digital readouts of all three travels which could be zeroed at anypoint and increments set for running zeros so it was just a case of wind the tool in, out, along, repeat.... watching the displays, reset the tool angle for the other side and repeat backwards.

Could do the same on a standard lathe, it would just take longer reading the numbers off the standard dials.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

any chance you might change your mind ? The angle of the v is 40 degrees with a pitch of 3.56 and a max 0.5 rad at the root of the v. As before any help would be appreciated as its the only thing stopping of from getting the engine back together cheers luke
