I'm after a JimStim to borrow if possible? If not, i'll consider buying one if there are offers.

You can buy the PCB and CPU from Jean direct and source the components in the UK (which is cheaper than importing one built or in kit form from the USA). I have the parts equivalant lists from Farnell and actually most of the parts (!!!) as I've just helped Graham to do the same.

Unfortunatley I can't lend you mine just at the moment as it's in regular use.

How much is it roughly to buy the parts, PCB and CPU, as apposed to a kit?

The PCB/ECU was ~£20 direct from Jean inc. postage, no import duties because of the low value, and I think the parts worked out about the same again from Farnell UK - I haven't actually done the final calculation as I had so many already but the most expensive parts were the pots at about £1.10 each. The resistors, LEDs, etc are a few pence each. The screw connector blocks migtht also be pricey but I have quite a few second hand ones (free for anyone persuing the Siamese code) left over from commisioning a certain nuclear power station is Suffolk a few years ago.....

Assume ~£45 total.

Joe is a star, he lent me his while I was waiting for the PCB/ECU to arrive from Jean.

Long term though, I would suggest you buy one (or the bits), they are invaluable while you are setting it all up and to refer back to if things don't work right straight away.

So you think I will need the JimStim for longer than a day Rod? In that case I will probably be looking to buy one instead. I guess it would be handy to check faulty sensors against bad circuitry. Thanks for the estimated price also.

Thanks for the offer Joe, are you looking to sell your JimStim at all? If not, I will wait out a bit longer to see if anyone else has one they want to sell.

Personally I would say, yes, more than a day...

But I've been doing most of my development work on an oscilliscope as the car isn't actually MOT'd yet.

To understand how all the various settings work, and their effect, watched in TunerStudio, would certainly take more than a day.

If enough people were interested in going down the siamese code route it might be worth considering a TM "pool" one perhaps ???

"if" i find mine i'm unlikely to need it any time soon, so its yours for a couple of months if need be.

Thanks Joe, that sounds fantastic. I think I will take you up on your offer in that case. No rush on finding it, i've only just ordered my MS II kit.

No probs, and no rush either chap. I'm one of those that likes constant contact for assurance and it gets the better of me!

Cheers, Carl.
