plasma's used to be far superior for blacks in movies but these days there is less in it. That's what he told me, so i've just treated myself to a 32" LCD for Xmas. He better be right

I've got a Toshiba Plasma, 2007 Plasma of the year (bought in 2008). It is fantastic, the HD in particular the blacks are very very clear.

Andy your telly is a Pioneer Kuro not Toshiba. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

If you want full HD, and a screen no bigger than 40" lcd is our only option. |

The black Samsung plasmas are best value for money at the moment. Ive had a 42" LG plasma for 4 years now and am looking to replace it with the Samsung, not that theres anything wrong with the LG, I just want a 50"
I seriously doubt it! |

PS3 for blue ray/dvd/internet/iplayer/video & music library. Sony HT-SS100 for sound. Not the cheapest but my 12 year old Sony crt is still going strong. Get to Comet and look at them side by side with the same feed (other electrical stores are available). I find plasma quite blurred and grainy on fast moving images (footy generally) but Plasma's undoubtedly cheaper, there's no arguing that. LED and LCD are close to one another but LCD can never deliver "true" black as they are constantly back-lit and merely try and block the light. LEDs can be "turned off", but they're bloomin' expensive still (think they have "wider" viewing angles too).

Just ordered a 32" Samsung LED last weekend, it seemed to stand out above some of the others when compared side-by-side in the shop. Delivery not till Saturday, we'll see how it stacks up then!!! |

Personally, I would buy from john lewis. 5 year garantee, no quibbles and they will price match to any in store prices. |
