hi, i have bought a unit which didnt come with the software cd. It has firmware V3.2.1 labelled on the back. i have tried downloading the configuration software from autosport labs but none of the old V3 ones work and the V4.0.1 software works but i cannot connect to the MJ properly. it gives an error saying "timeout reading cylinder count" does anyone know what i can do about this? thanks |

yeah you need to match the firmware to the software....

Thanks Alex, so is this a common error when the versions are different? Im struggling to find V3.2.1 software but i think i may be able to use the V4.0.1 firmware if i can flash it to the jolt.

They have to be at the same software level or they won't communicate.

right ive uploaded the V4.0.1 firmware to the jolt so the two are now matching, but im still getting "timeout reading ignition configuration" quickly replaced by "timeout reading cylinder count" any ideas? :( |

Are you running vista on your laptop?

not 100% sure about how to check bios/XP, in device manager it shows the com port as com1 and ive set this in the software. when i tried flashing the firmware at first it faulted where the calibration pulse is being sent, then i changed the port's bit rate to a lower one and it uploaded properly. Ive noticed now that the software still gives the faults even when the cable is unplugged? |

Alex - the newest software i found to be working from autosport was the V4.0.1, i upgraded the firmware from V3.2.1 to V4.0.1 but still have the problem.

software goes on your computer. firmware goes on the chip(s) in the megajolt.

What ECU have you got? You need v3 software on a v3 MJ.... What he said.... I'd suggest joining the Autosport forum and asking, you'll most likely get a rapid response from Brent, the guy who designed your ECU. |

its a V3.2.1 and it didnt come with software, the V3.2.1 software download from autosport would not work on my computer. I have posted on their forum and brent confirmed you have to use the V3 software and sent me the link for the V3.2.1 software download but i cannot open it once downloaded.
