My mate asked my opinion on them as he was looking to buy them and break them but at a shade under £400 each I told him to step away If I thought I could sell my turbo engines for that in that condition I would be having a rather good christmas. Own the day

Our local Mini breakers sell complete 1275 engines 'Low mileage' for £550. They reckon they are 'restored', but its only a fresh coat of paint a new head gasket and oil filter. Having said that the guy that paints them does look like he takes his time and puts some effort in. Its not like the paint is just slapped on On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:

Problem is though, they always seems to be miles away from the person who wants to purchase one.

i once got a 1293 with a 266 cam, 1.5 rockers, stage 3 head, lcb , lightened flywheer and a gt c/r box for £30. that was 3 years ago and the guy at the breakers was unsure about it as a drop gear was fubar. i picked up 2 running compleate 1275 motors at £30 each at the same time as i spoted them in the skip waiting to go to the foundery.

I tracked down another 1275 earlier for £100 quid, trying to resist the temptation to buy it.
