Hello

Well bought a second hand turbo motor ordered a benross head now me being the idiot i am didnt check over a few things just went to time the cam in the other day and the pistons were as sloppy as anything, so stripped it all down, now its going to take me about an hour and a half to get to med in leicester from where i am, ive already rang them up enquiring about how much bits and bobs are so what i was going to get was

New Rings
Hone
Centre Mainstrap Machined
Rods, crank and flywheel balanced

Now i am unsure as to wether this is going to resolve the problem, i am unsure wether the pistons are just knackered, the block has been bored/honed to much for the pistons now which is why i have got so much slop...

so i basically dont want to travel an hour and a half for them to tell me its all shite see ya later.... i havent really got a problem with buying bits and getting stuff done i just want to know what i can do to check that the block and the pistons are alrite to use before i travel tomorrow.

I know its a bit late to be posting this but any reply's will be great

Cheers Josh

see what size feeler guage you can get between the piston skirt and the wall, with the piston at tdc .your haynes manual will describe this .

don't worry too much about thop of the piston having a big clearance, it'd supposewd to have , as Robert says, you need to measure the shirt clearance .
