What's your guys though on the 1986 VW GTI? I'm getting one for while my mini is down for resto, got a bloke selling it for $350, so roughly 260 pounds?

I've had 5 golfs through the years; enjoyed all of them at the time. 8v is pretty bullet proof and torquey - mine used to tow the transporter trailer with ease.

pity your not on this side of the pond as i've still got a full stainless exhaust and K&N panel filter for it in the workshop

Have to agree with the others here - they are great cars.I have a mk2 that ive owned for the past 5-6 years,i rarely use it as it lives at my folks place but will get round to finishing it eventually.

Wish I could pick one up for that price, the early Gtis are rare over here and the later models are too expensive.

My wife has a Tdi for her daily, but the rev limiter cuts in too early for my liking - until I drove it she didn't even know it had a rev limiter!
