You need to watch Toms video!!

There are lots of 'wanted' ads on here for Metro Turbo engines, and I always ask why?

There are no useful bits on the engine that are any better than a standard 1275, and in most cases, the turbo motors are more knackered, remember they are all over 20 years old at best.

Read the thread on turbo engine myths.

Are you expecting an engine with the turbo, carb and manifolds?

As Will says, I wouldn't bother with an old metro turbo engine.

Just buy an ordinay 1275 and rebuild it with better componants. It will save you spending £500 on an engine and then spending the same again+ rebuilding it as it's fooked.

Also, your insurance might be slightly cheaper if you use a standard block rather than a turbo one. Certainly was for us.

hi thanks for the comments i was after a complete engine as i have watched the dvd on how to convert my 1275 engine to a turbo but when the conversion is completed he seems to have problems with oil pressure will standard oil seals for the 1275 be ok im not sure as i am new to all this dosent have to be a turbo even a decent powerful engine that would fit in with out doing to much modification i dont mind doin a bit of modification but not too much even if i can only get the turbo/manifolds and plenum would be a start i guess it is going to be a long and costly project but that dosent bother me there just dosent seem to be enough parts out there to make my own turbo engine without buying all new but i have already done all welding and body work just dont want to get it sprayed till i have sorted an engine out for it any ideas ????

does any body know how much a decompression plate would lower the compression on a a series 1275 engine would it be enough to put a turbo on and run it at standard boost??
