The dizzy part number is vissible in the first pick, near the dizzy clamp. post that up.

looks suspicioucly like an early metro ducelior (or however you spell it) dizzy.

what spec is your engine? smal/large bore? Turbo or n/a? I'm guessing A+ due to the dizzy clamp

EDIT: Just noticed the turbo oil feed in the first pick :$

Probably the wrong dizzy

must be a really early metro turbo engine you have. before the ellectronic stuff. pop the cap off and have a look where the wires run to. if it just has a condensor and points then you can follow the wires back and wire as a normal points dizzy.

EDIT: That said, a points dizzy only has one wire going into it. Might have an aftermarket ignition module in it

That is a Mk1 turbo dizzy that uses a seperate ignition module. As opposed to the later type that has the module mounted on the side of the dizzy itself.

As TOm says, the first dizzy needs the external module.

Is the second one from a turbo??

Your problem is getting hold of the module.

Finding a later dizzy or fitting a megajolt would be your best bet. The advance curve on the standard dizzy will be wrong for the turbo engine

Right more problems! i now have bought another dizzy off ebay which is ment to be a turbo one aswell but i am unsure. The plug on the box on the side of the dizzy has three pin connections and from what i have read on here there should only be two? anyone know anymore on this?.

Three pin plug/socket were the later modules - but only two of the pins are used as the way they are wired up for the Metro (so mini) coil is the same.

On one of the "other" forums is a diagram showing which of the three to use and which is positive (coil and module) and which is coil (switched side).

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

We have the 3 pin wire on the metro van, I can look to see which wires are which if you like.

With the dizzy fitted and the connector at roughly 2 o'clock. The top connector of the 3 (white wire) goes to the positive on the coil and the bottom (white/black wire) goes to the negative
