I'd say it was a bodge, fix it properly.

I've found that gungum normally blows out/ breaks up if the mating faces arent seated properly anyway, so its not a fix.

IMO.

It hasn't worked for me in the past. I had the exhaut housing and manifold surface ground and then just bolted them together without a gasket. Not had any problems since!

i have used a good quality silicone selant for this joint on my car before and worked fine. however, it is a bodge, fix it with a proper gasket.

incidently i still use silicone selant for the manifold - head join as the OE gaskets kept blowing out. but by good quality i meen ~£40 a tube. more expensive than a proper gasket. fix it properly.

If you really have to, use Firegum instead of GunGum, but its still not the proper answer.

same as Evo, I have used high temp RTV, but its a bodge, I bet the manifold is out of sorts... I now use an SC stainless manifold, but then I'm not using a turbo.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I always had problems with this joint. I used to use exhaust wrap, metal self amalgamating stuff, then a bit of gungum too.

It never leaked.

Most important thing is to have a good bracket on bottom of the box to stop the joint moving.

I could just never get mine to seal, no matter what I did.

Worth mentioning here is that the standard Metro Turbo clamp needs modifing or getting the joint to seal is near impossible.

search on here I think there's a thread somewhere
