Have a search, there is a pic (I think by Turbo Dave) that shows how to connect it up.

hi everyone, i know this is an old thread, but i have a question(probably a stupid one) is there a reason why i cant take the vac feed for my dump valve from the outlet with the orrange circle in the pic? i ask this because i noticed a carb spacer on mini spares with a niple for this purpose and that sits just a bit in front of this outlet, and since there is nothing between the spacer and the part where the oullet is, its seems logical to me... but what do i know...

In the garage......again!!

as long as its on the engine side of the butterfly then yes, it should be fine.

No you can't.

I can't remember the exact reason, but this feed is not just a straight hole to the manifold side of the butterfly.

You'd need to check the HIF44 but on the HIF38 that take off is
_definitely_ not on the engine side of the butterfly when the
throttle's closed.

hi guys...

i just had the carb off, and this outlet on the hiff44 is on the mani side of the butterfly...at least from what i can see...

but maybe its like will h said, the outlet is on the maniside, but maybe its not a straight hole down, (didnt check this)

It is just on the manifold side of the butterfly on an HIF44 (I've just looked at one too)

On a lot of SUs it is neither before or after but right in line with the butterfly (when shut) to cover the hole.

In this case I would say the size is the issue - it's only meant to operate a small diaphragm in the dizzy quite slowly.

Dump valves usually use 4mm or sometimes even 6mm signal lines as they are meant to operate quickly, this connection is less than 2mm.

oh ok... thanks for your insight rod s... i gues there is no harming in trying it out and seeing how the dump valve works then?
