Tom Fenton for pulley machining and cps bracket.
Scrap yard for the Coil pack, edis and CPS (fiesta escort 1.3/1.1).
Autosport labs in the US for the megajolt unit. If you or someone you know can solder, then get it in kit form and save even more.

It depends on how much you are prepared to do yourself.

The most recent MegaSquirt partial kit I imported (4 weeks ago) was less than half that price.

By the time I add the components and the trigger wheel and coilpack (no EDIS unit required with MegaSquirt) it will still be 2/3 that price BUT...... all DIY. And it has many more features than Megajolt even just with ignition only enabled.

But I stress, all DIY, not just the brackets and external wiring, but soldering the PCB as well.

I believe the MegaJolt is available in kit form too (although maybe not the most recent version) so it depends on how much you want to do yourself and how much you are prepared to pay for someone else to have already done it.....

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

megasquirt offers a higher resolution ignition table (more values to set so greater control), depends what you want to do with the engine in the long run?

well its a new 1380 at the mo and in the long run i may turbo it so not two sure at mo as working out the cost. But i like the thought of the modern side of it ie no dizzy and coil

For just ignition, it will do exactly the same as Megajolt.

Maybe a little bit better as it has TPS and MAP as standard so you don't have to worry about chosing which.

However, even without the fuel injection components installed, it gives you a whole lot more monitoring of other variables (coolant temperature, air intake temperature) and logging facilities so you can build your ignition map accordingly.

But obviously I'm biased :)

HOWEVER, I stress, it is much more DIY than a MJ kit.
