a little side to side is ok, but no movement sliding inwards and out of the shaft.

you are looking for about .2mm side to side, but is is very deceptive .2mm feels like loads, see if you can get a vernier on there and actually measure it.

Just had a t3 refurbed and it cost £300 + vat. Whilst I on here, I sent 2 full turbos to this guy with a view of making 1 good outa 2 not so good uns. anyway I have 2 fully stripped and cleaned t3's so if anyone wants owt just let me know.

I am nobody, nobody's perfect. Therefore I am perfect

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

Get some feeler gauges in there and measure what you have, as mini13 said 0.2mm can feel like loads.
the oil will take out some of the play once it is together.
But aslong as the turbine doesnt touch the sides I would try my luck

You should really use a DTI guys,,,

0.2mm or about 1 thou is the most you should get side to side. Up and down you are look for no more than 0.02mm!
