quick question how much play can you have in a turbo before it is going to cause a major problem reason i ask is i have a turbo that has a bit of play in it and im not to sure about putting it on my engine should it be sent off for re-con or will it be ok to fit as i have seen sum people fit them with play in them and they been ok ?? not sure my self as i have never had 1 any 1 care to comment ?? thanks |

a little side to side is ok, but no movement sliding inwards and out of the shaft. |

well i would say it has 1 mm play side to side but none in and out will this be ok to fit

you are looking for about .2mm side to side, but is is very deceptive .2mm feels like loads, see if you can get a vernier on there and actually measure it.

Just had a t3 refurbed and it cost £300 + vat. Whilst I on here, I sent 2 full turbos to this guy with a view of making 1 good outa 2 not so good uns. anyway I have 2 fully stripped and cleaned t3's so if anyone wants owt just let me know. I am nobody, nobody's perfect. Therefore I am perfect |

Get some feeler gauges in there and measure what you have, as mini13 said 0.2mm can feel like loads.

i think from whats been said on here i will try it but yes nic it does feel like loads but measurements say otherwise will comment when its complete |
