Hi,
I brought a Mini last week and can't id the engine!!, the engine number is 12HD24 127110

How can you be so definate that it's not a turbo carb from that picture?

What I can tell from that picture is that it has a plenum on.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

So where did you bring the engine? If you brought it somewhere and cannot find it again, ID-ing can be very difficult.

In particular the pipe coming from the bit that joins onto the manifold round to the side of the carb

As far as I can see the only turbo part there is the plenum, it is not a turbo carb. It seems a strange setup to use to get a cold air feed to the carb. I know it has already been said but that's an MG Metro engine.

It is very strange set up, over fuel all the time, think i'm going to throw it away and start again!!, are plenum worth anything??

That's an n/a carb. I'll give you a fiver for the plenum
