yeh few people i have spoken to rate them, im tempted, thing thats making me usure is most of the movement seams to be from the rad side at the top, where you would normaly put a "ultimate engine steady" between the thermostat housing and bulk head, but i can do that because of the bulk head box :S

Had the same issue on the van but welded an extra thick L shaped plate with three captive 3/8 UNF bolts in it to the back of the engine bay just next to where the wiper motor sits.

No reason why this couldn't be bolted through the fire wall, instead of welded to it.

From this, I made up a steady bracket and adjustable bar with bushes which picks up with the water pump bolts.

In addition to two additional gerabox steadies (LH rear and RH front) this well and truly sorted mine out.

Phot attached.

Good luck with yours.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

I use an Avonbar waterpump steady, but had to make up a bracket because of the missing piece of crossmember.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I like the avonbar one as you can pull the head without disturbing it.

What about these? i quite fancy these with an "ultimate" one and the standard top left cant see it going anywhere!

i run a rose jointed top steady in place of the std one, and the std lower steady by the sump plug. zero movement.
