Alright chaps,

Im after an engine crane which is suitable for use on Minis, i dont intend lifting anything else so it doesnt have to be a full souped up industrial version capable of lifting a jumbo jet but i would like something that is easy to use, the legs will fit between the minis wheel base, or the arm reachs over and folds flat for storage in the garage. Ive borrowed my mates 2 ton crane before but I guess 1 ton capacity would be more than sufficient?

Anyone got one there willing to sell or know of any good deals at the moment?

Thanks
Andy

Isn't it a bit marginal bearing in mind a power unit is 150kg std?

well, I dont think it is 150... I use something very similar to Nick and last time I dropped the 16V engine (with an LSD diff) down onto a scale, it ended up at 112 kg.

Lifting gear is always designed with a big margin though, especially when lifting people. I guess it is marginal, but still safe I would have thought.

You're right Ben. Look at car winches on trailers, they always say 'Not for lifting humans'. For safest 'human' loifters will be 4x rated minimum.
