Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Liner will clean up and there is a new piston sat on the coffee table. Just need to do a little more DIY and earn some points to play with the Mini *laughing*

Rings are a bitch though at £85 and they take 6 weeks for manufacture. I'm sticking with the gapless veriety as am suitably impressed with them :)

Cos, when I looked back and read it it made me giggle. How many people can say that they've had another 50hp arrive in the post*tongue*

Not much use now though

Has it hit the inlet valve?

I tell you what though, Shell Vpower is fooking great stuff, no carbon build up, and what there is wipes off with wd40 and a rag without effort. No more scraping

I think you should change the name of this thread to - Something I destroyed earlier. Far more appropriate.

Are any of the others showing signs of damage?

Can you get the pistons singularly? Or will you have 3 spares?

Deffo not too much advance at 24 degrees seeing as I knocked it back from 32

Log shows it all started to go lean towards the end of the evening, so something had changed. This was the first run out with the heater fitted, and all the testing done in the day showed good. Obviously not lol. Only one piston/ bore shows any damage. That is not to say that any other pistons are not damaged, I can only see 25% of them from the top *happy*

These pistons are the NLA Powermax Cooper S pistons, and have been for at least 10 years. But my man came up trumps and found me a new single piston.

Ditching the ITBs and the myriad of pipes, distribution blocks and injectors, that are the likely source of many of the troubles, and constructing a plenum then running a single injector as far from the valves as possibe. It was on the cards, but I wanted to have a little more fun before I pulled the engine *happy*

Broke down 3 miles from home in a cloud of smoke, lol, pulled the plugs and #2 was wet and zero compression. So disconnected the coil and injector, then drove it home on three cylinders *happy*

yes if the bottle heatere is creating higher bottle pressure and the jets in the foggers stay the same it will run lean , and the later in the day and the colder the air the leaner it will run colin ..

seperate foggers ,one for each port , is allways going to give a more accurate n2o distribution than a single feed and a plenum .unless the plenum is quite sophisticated ,and even then its v difficult to get dead even pressure at all ports .

ok cool, it's just you had a problem so the advice isn't really worked. Just cost you a lot of work.

is there such a thing as " too much gas" *happy*

i thought the whole point of gas was that you used as much of it as you could get away with and then worked out new ways of geting away with more *hehe!*

thing is , it all depends on how much was going in , if colin is pushing the boundaries of whats known , for example a 100 shot on a 12 to cr and 98 octane ,then it may be no amount of advice would help if it hasnt been done before !
on the other hand , if advice is forthcoming that the design he has should be fine ,then that advice is obviously faulty ,and should be seen as such . but only if the advice is based on the design AS IT IS .
oh ,and of course, if that advice has been understood and followed to the letter .
