New to this forum. Some fantastic info on this site. Never knew there were so many turbo'd minis out there! First got introduced to turbo minis via the old metroturbo.com forums. Contacted Dave Coxon about his T2 blown mini, and I was done for after that. Project has been mothballed for the past couple of years. Work, house renovation and other things got in the way and something had to give. However now starting back on the little beasty. Car so far- Rebuilt 1978 saloon shell. Currently mostly in Russett brown, which is a good colour for a car that should go like sh*t off a shovel, but I may change it as I'm sure it incourages the tin worm. Flip front (steel), seam welded rover sills and floor. Rebuilt subframes, front seam welded and strengthened. 7.5" disc brakes, 4pot alloy calipers (minispares), standard drums at rear. Kayaba gas-a-just shocks. 1.5 negative camber front arms, adjustable rear camber brackets. Adjustable tie rods. Running on 6x10 wolfrace slots- nice wheels with not a lot of offset, now old enough to (almost) look cool again. Engine. Block prepped, new cam bearings, steel centre main strap, rebored +20. Head still to be done. Have a new set of +20 metro turbo pistons, but am looking longingly at those nice forged deep dish jobs. Head needs to be worked over- have a good 1.3i head to mess about with. Mirage exhaust manifold and T2 turbo. Prolly go for a Phase 2 camshaft. Have a good naturally aspirated inlet manifold- thinking of using that, but have been advised to go with a turbo manifold if possible- hmmm! Dave was very helpful in sourcing sensors, dual coil block and a laser cut crank sensor wheel. Will run this with Emerald 3D ignition system. Renault 5 intercooler. Ultra light steel flywheel. Grey clutch diaphragm. 2-core radiator. Gearbox. I have a pre A-plus close ratio helical set, plus a standard box that was on the original car (998 lump). Was looking at straight cut drop gears, but was interested to read about a pressurised oil feed system for the helical gear set on Dave's website. Any more word on this? Will run on Tran x cross-pin diff Still on the lookout for a good turbo carb, possibly with manifold. Don't need plenum- growing my own. Andy
