Hi

Ive been trying for ages and can I hell get the clamp to the turbo to seal. I know Im doing something wrong. Is there any thing I should be doing to get it to seal?

I hate this job. You shoud try doing it on a 998 block, the clamp barely fits between the joint and the block.

Anyway, the way I always do it is to get one of thoes exhaust bandages, cut a bit long enough to go around the join, wet it and wrap it round before installing the clamp. I usually put a bit of exhaust sealer on the mating faces for good measure.

I always jack the downpipe into position so it's tight on the turbo when putting the clamp on.

Any help?

Make sure you have the clamp the right way up, the hole is bigger on one side.

i find light pressure from a jack beneath the downpipe holds it up against the outlet while tightening , use exhaust paste on sealing faces and in the groove around the clamp as it holds it in place once dry, and use the steady bracket to the 'box to avoid the joint being moved while in use , another general tip is weld the bolts in one side of the clamp so you dont need a spanner on one end

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

This has been mentioned before colas,
the problem arises when you go from the standard
1?x 34 to a 2? aftermarket down pipe, do a search on exhausts this will reveal what?s required for it to fit correctly, Turbo Dave has written a thread on this.
The clamp requires a little relieving.
I think most of us have fallen into this trap including me.
