Its time to plumb in all my vac hoses and I was just after a little advice/confirmation. At lot of the stuff I have found while searching have mentioned taking a reading from the manifold where the survo takeoff is, i'd rather avoid that if I can.

I need to plumb in, boost gauge, dump valve and megajolt.

I was thinking:

1. Block off
2. Dump valve
3. Boost Gauge
4. connect to 5. with a T-piece off to the megajolt

megajolt, boostgauge and dumpvalve all want to be off the manifold

the nipples (2+3) on the carb are interfered by the throttle plate and dont give a true manifold reading

1 is correct and
4 - 5 but without the t piece

edit: i think 2 cant pull a vaucuum fast enough or something cant remember exact details off the top of my head

edit again im sure 2 can be through drilled to give one signal
there are thread about that discuss having all the inputs T together, its not a good idea

Wow *surprised*

4-5 can be T into the boost gauge but will only read the positive side of atmospheric

Just spoke to a mate and he has the correct pre drilled bolt to fit in the manifold/survo takeoff so I now have that too.

So:

1, 2 & 3 - Block
4 -> 5

Manifold: dumpvalve, boost gauge and MJ MAP.

Branching the manifold vacume 3 ways...is that good? :S

I've seen a few people using 2 as the dumpvalve feed on here

you can run a drill bit down 2 to give a minifold reading you can than use it for dumpvalve and boost gauge, id use the big nut in the middle of the manifold ( servo take off ) for the mjlj

i really dont fancy drilling my carb, call me a wuss but i'll leave that be for now.

i'm not to concerned about the boost gauge only reading positive so I may T that off the fuel reg pipe.

and then run MJ MAP and dump valve off the maifold nut.

blanking off all the rest.

I ran my boost gauge and Mj off the brake servo fiting, I just drilled and tapped it 1/8bsp and bought a barbed fitting for it.

I might be wrong, but im sure I Tee'd my boost gauge into the actuator signal hose?

Just thinking, I have replaced the bolt that goes off to the survo with a banjo bolt with a hole in the top.

First off, what fitting is it that screws into that hole for me to be able to fit a vac hose, i cant find anything to fit.

Secondly, will plumbing the MJ MAP sensor into this be a problem, will the vacuum level change when using the brakes for example? :S

The genuione metro turbo drilled/tapped take of bolt that we used on the metro van took a 1/8 BSP fitting. I got one of ebay for a few quid.

cheers for that, good ol ebay, i'll have a look.

i found the carb spacer that mini spares sell with a vac takeoff. What about making one of those myself from and old spacer but with 2 or even 3 takeoffs, one for dv, one for boost gauge etc.

i know people aren't fans of T'ing off pipes, would the above idea be any differant..

fitting it on the servo banjo imo should be ok your only on the brakes when your not on the gas...

the custom spacer with 3 take offs should be ok too

I would have thought if there is a one way valve in the servo piping then it shouldn't matter.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I've got all the bits delivered today to modify my carb spacer to have 2 vac hose take offs.

Are there any issues with using a different thickness carb spacer? The one I have fitted now is 6mm, the one I want to mod is 12mm. The thinner one doesnt give me much room to drill it. Just wasnt sure if the thickness of the spacer would affect anything else?

And to give something back for all these questions, if anyone else needs the take off fitting that screws into the metro manifold banjo bolt, this fits perfectly:

This was my final soultion.

The wider spacer did cause a problem with the turbo manifold studs not being long enough, so I swapped the studs over from an n/a manifold which were much longer.

The take-off from the banjo bolt goes to the mega jolt. Right take-off on the spacer to the dump valve, and the left take-off will go to the boost gauge.
