I would personally ask wether or not they assume the car as standard ? ?

If they do, then if you ever came to claim for anything, and you do have Mods, it would invalidate the policy.

Always tell the insurer, in writing, of all your mods. That way they can never use this as an excuse to weasel out of a claim.

I've just insured a mini with a rake load of modifications total price including brokers £25 fee £121. Can't complain.

HIC=BACs wouldn't even entertain a car with a cage - this was the year they sponsored Ian Curley's Miglia and used it in all their ads

I'll have to bear that in mind when I put a cage in my other mini then.

A lot of it is down to which company they use I guess. I'm with connetix or something this year. Last year was highway.

My white 205 is insured with HIC, it has a cage which is declared and has been for the past 5 years.

I was insured no problems with a cage in my car with HIC. Thats strange.

The only reason I'm not now is because the cars on a layed up policy.

Not too bad really considering.

IIRC HIC would allow a cage but not n2o... Adrian Flux (which I believe is the same company) would allow both

when i had my traders policy, i did not have to declare any mods; the down side to this policy was the trade value applied to any claim

Try RH insurance. They do a lot of our club cars and, as an example, I pay £75 p.a. comprehensive, agreed value for a turbo A35 with different brakes, suspension etc etc etc
