Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Just bought one cheap to have a play with, my speedo isnt accurate at all!!

jsut wondering where everyone has mounted it?

Im thinking pot joint at the minute but not sure if its worth making more effort and lengthening the wires etc to run off the rear drum or something.

Also wondered about the driveshaft then mount the receiver bit on the top arm, then they should both move together.

See more when i get it i suppose but just thought id bounce around a few ideas. when i get my proper digi speedo set ill be doing it off the drum, hopefully inside if its not to bothered about dust.

cheers *smiley*

sorry guys could you shed some light on this for me, you mean that a bike speedo uses magnets rather than a poxy cable, giallofly, what do i look for for in halfords if this is correct? and what is a gps speedo where can i find one ?

it has a cable from the sensor. the magnet rotates and as it passes the senser it gets counted as such, hence working out your speed.
they all work like that.

i looked into wireless ones but they are only suppossed to have about a 80cm range. not really good enough. thats without having electrics interfering with them (if they would i dont know)

Turbosteve,

Not wanting to sound patronising but you are looking for a bike speedo that costs ?2.99.*tongue*

It is connected by cable from a sensor to the display, you will obviously have to extend the cable.

*** IF ANY OF YOU NEED SOME TELECOMMS BELL WIRE TO EXTEND THE CABLE PM ME YOUR ADDRESS AND I'LL BUNG YOU A FEW METRES IN THE POST F.O.C.***

i fitted one today, got it off ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

reads mph and can do over 100mph so ideal for cars

stuck the display on the rollcage, and used a spare dif cover to mock up a bracket, used a bit of left over sikaflex to glue the magnet to the cv, and jobs a goodun

did think i had a pic of it all done on car, but i cant find it on my camera now :(

*edit, found them*

Anyway, too it for a spin, and its mint, works a treat, i just used some spare speaker cable to extend the wire, works fine.

I know it wont read the speed accurately whilst spinning up/hard cornering etc, but to be honest, whos looking at the speedo at those times anyway?

i measured my tyre circumference (165/55r12) at 58.6", and it reads pretty much spot on compared to the tom tom.

looks good, but I get the feeling that the bit with the pickup attached could quite easily flex and move about

yeah, if i could tig, id have added a gusset, but its 1mm ally, not the most rigid, but works fine, the sensor needs to be between 1 and 5mm, and im sure it wont flex more that a couple mm at most

the little displays on those speedos are quite small, do people find it hard to read them while driving along ?? the one on my push bike has a calorie reading lol bet that would go mental on a car doing 70mph
