My alternator pully let go damaging the shaft last monday, ive been into GSF and Euro who say there is none of my alternator type in the country! gsf said they could get a replacment that was not Bosch but it turned up and was wrong, my local factors have supplied 5 alternators so far and none have been right cars been off the road 8 days and ive been hiring a van thats costing a fortune, i really cant believe i am having these many issues on such a common car, the alternator is hard to get as it has a clutch pully on it and is 90 amp this is because my cars the peasant model with no air con and this is supposed to be rare according to the GSF gimp

1998 audi a4 1.9tdi 90

Bosch alternator numbers
bosch 028 903 018 fx 03
KC . 1413 - 90A
042

When GSF cross ref the numbers they supply the wrong alternator if they do the same with the pully they get the right pully....... oddly

Thanks

Not very sunny swanage

tried 'find a part' or something similar? not ideal, but might be quicker and easier than a new one

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

Weld the pully back on?

I did that on my bro's escort, lasted until he scrapped the car a couple of years later, even though it was pissed.

may at least get you out f trouble til you can get hold of one

had this reply from the audi forums, seems the part number on the alternator is a vag one not a bosch one, i will see what gsf and euro have now

So 028 903 018 FX is what is on the car now? If it is, this is already a replacement unit as 028 903 018 FX is the VAG replacement number for the original 028 903 027 S (Bosch) or 028 903 027 T (Valeo). It is a Bosch 0 123 320 048 or a Valeo 436449, trade number NA440. They tend to be supplied without the pulley from Bosch which must be purchased separately but Valeo come with the pulley however this tends to be the incorrect solid type which causes belt flapping and tensioner failure.

I would try All Audi, I've used them a lot in the past for parts and they usually have what I'm after.

I've had a look on ETKA and the way I read it was that 028 903 018 FX was one of 3 alternators grouped under the 028 903 027 S replacement part number, but I could be completely wrong, I only looked at it breifly. The alternator was also fitted to some A6s of a similar age, I can check which ones if that's any help.

did you ever complaint for that to their office? it's kinda usual thing. company should know that. they must know if the alternator thing really fits. well guess that is a mistake only.

I think only site admins can ban.

I can however change their usernames to something far more appropriate!

Went for the signatures instead.

Left the usernames just in case it makes it a pain to ban them.

Well it looks like im the BAC here. I thought that link in your post said carpet wholesale! not car part wholesale, haha.

Your post is very odd though, replying to a thread thats months out of date with a very random link right in the middle of a sentence. It's typical spam bot behaviour.

My mistake, glad to see you have altered your sig back.

I am not convinced, we will soon see with the next post with or without a dubious link in it.
