Waterpump gasket?

Hi all :)

I am renewing the waterpump gasket, this one;

And it says "genuine water pump gasket -red one side and grey the other-grey side to the block"

If i put the grey side to the block, it doesn't fit at all, the only way it fits on the waterpump is with the red side to the block ........

Any chance this could be a odd one out?

Is there a difference in the material on each side? I stand to be corrected, but I can't really see it making any difference tbh.

Ive always used a plain gasket with a smear of RTV sealant on each side.

Yeah, one side was gasket, and the other almost had a raised layer on it (the block side part)

I put it on the way it fitted in the end, with some Gasket seal, but, it definiately wasn't the correcy way according to Mini Spares info.

I've changed our description now, all genuine water pump gaskets fit the way you have fitted yours.
